“So, why did you become a driving instructor?"
This is the $64,000 question that tutor Chris Barker is asked more than any other by his many pupils.
His answer is simple: “I wanted to do something that could change people’s lives in a positive way - it’s as plain as that”.
And this sentiment is what forms the core of Delta’s philosophy of professional instructor training.
“How did Delta start?”
In the summer of 2007, three highly experienced driving instructors held a meeting to discuss what they could do to use their skills to better advantage…
Having run their own very successful driving schools for several years, these three instructors, Chris Barker, Andy Bell and Tony Friebach, felt they needed a fresh challenge.
Long-standing friends and colleagues, they knew that their combined wealth of knowledge and experience of teaching others how to drive was just what was needed to form a school of good instructor trainers.
But, to make sure the were fully prepared for the task ahead, they all successfully completed one of the toughest training courses available nationally, run by one of the country’s most renowned ADI trainers, Phil Hirst.
The result?
Delta Instructor Training was formed and its motto is already being followed: ‘teaching professionalism – professionally’.
